We have been learning about vertebrates today in Science. A vertebrate is an animal that has a spine. We learned that vertebrates can be divided into five group: Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians and Fish.

Stained Glass Windows
As part of our RE last term, we thought about why Jesus is inspiring to some people. After we visited the West Orchard United Reformed Church, we created stained glass windows with images of why Jesus was inspiring to so many people.

Church Visit
Yesterday, we visited West Orchard United Reformed Church as part of our RE learning.
We had a great time learning all about inspirational people and thinking about why Jesus is important to some people.
We also heard a story called 'You are special' which gave us lots to think about in terms of the way we think about ourselves and how we treat others.

Electricity
We are currently learning about electricity in Science.
We have been learning about circuits and how they work. We tested different circuits to see if the bulb would light up, and then observed what happened if we added another battery or light bulb.
Today, we investigated whether different materials were conductors or insulators of electricity.
A conductor is something that allows the electric current to travel through it. An insulator does not allow the current to flow through it.
We tested these materials:
Which material(s) do you think are conductors of electricity?

Mother's Day Cards
We made Mother's Day cards last Friday. Because it was such a lovely day, we went outside searching for twigs and branches to use.
We then turned these into our own bunches of flowers.

Dragon Week Clue Hunt
We went outside to investigate some strange items that had shown up at Howes. We used magnifying glasses to explore the strange things in more detail.
We found dragon eggs, footprints, eyes, some treasure and a giant bone! We're not sure if the bone belongs to a dragon or something that it ate, but it did provide us with a good discussion point back in class.
