Dragon Week Clue Hunt

We went outside to investigate some strange items that had shown up at Howes. We used magnifying glasses to explore the strange things in more detail.

We found dragon eggs, footprints, eyes, some treasure and a giant bone! We're not sure if the bone belongs to a dragon or something that it ate, but it did provide us with a good discussion point back in class.

Poetry homework video

To help you with your homework, here is a video of a trip through woods. If you choose to do this activity, you can use this video for inspiration. There is even a river shown in the video to link in with Topic learning.

A Walk in the Woods

Bradgate Park

Today, we have been exploring rivers and mountains on our trip to Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. We all had a great time looking at the river, climbing over the rocks and seeing all the deer!

We then used maps and compasses to help us with orienteering around the park.

Potion Making

For the last two weeks, Cedar Class have been taking inspiration from Harry Potter and inventing some new potions!

We have had potions for: invisibility, strength, speed, love, mind-reading, improving skills, werewolves and even a Spiderman potion!

We have written explanation texts telling people what our potions are for and how they work. We also wrote instructions for how to make them and set them out as flow charts. Mrs Ceairns showed us how to make our paper look really old by using a tea bag. This was so much fun but slightly messy.

Here we are making our potions.

As we followed our instructions, we put our ingredients (which included Dragon's Blood, Snake's Venom and Scarab Beetle Juice) into small potion bottles.
